2015 Conference Completed
NRRA’s 2015 School Recycling Conference was a huge success with over 300 students, teachers, school staff and guests in attendance on day two for the “Conference within the Conference.” Over 50 exhibitors offered information and promotional materials to the registrants.
The School Recycling Conference provides a great opportunity to reach out to students, teachers and administrators at all levels – a virtual one-stop shop for all your school recycling information needs!
School Conference activities ranged from the Scavenger Hunt, to the Obstacle Course, to the Energy Bike, to the Toxic Terry, Household Hazardous Waste and Water Runoff displays. A mini-T.O.L.D. (Trash On the Lawn Day) was held at 11:30, giving students a chance to help sort waste generated at the hotel and conference.
Six workshops were offered and you can link to the presentations below:
- Trash Talk-how trash is created & managed,
- TreeSmart-how pencils are made from newspaper,
- The CLUB-a review of all CLUB programs and website resources,
- TRY Teams and VT Act 148,
- School Composting-how to set up a program and
- Implementing a School Recycling Program.
Twelve School Recycling CLUB Awards were presented at the Awards Luncheon, which featured Jack Golden’s “Garbage Is My Bag.”
Congratulations to Scavenger Hunt winner Alyson from Mason, NH. Here’s what she won:
